BIOGRAPHY

John Lowery, alias John 5, was born in Grosse Point, Michigan, on July, 31st 1971. John has both arms entirely covered with Japanese style tattoos, as well as on his upper chest. He is engaged to the model, Aria Giovanni.

John has been fond of guitars and country music since he was very young. At the age of seven, he got his very first guitar as a Christmas gift. His main influences at that time were the Monkees, KISS and Jimi Hendrix.
When he was fifteen, John started playing in several local clubs with his mother’s support.

Three years later, John leaves to California to go on with his career as a guitarist. He managed to get introduced to other musicians thanks to his meeting with Bob Marlette, producer of many other artists like Tracy Chapman or Black Sabbath. John worked then on several different projects, such ads, TV shows – Baywatch and Hard Copy – as well as several original soundtracks, including the one for Speed 2.

After 1990, John started to work with many artists such as John Wetton, Robin Zander, Wilson Philips, Rick Springfield and Salt N’Pepa.
Afterwards, John had the opportunity to temporary replace Zakke Wylde, Ozzy Osbourne’s guitarist. He worked then in the band “Red Square Black” and co-wrote the album “Square”. “Red Square Black” was a short-lived project because John was selected from 2,000 guitarists to tour with Country and Western crooner, KD Lang.

In 1996, after Daisy Berkowitz’s departure, John had an audition for Marilyn Manson but Mike Linton, a.k.a. Zim Zum, was chosen. John then worked in the band “Two” and played bass and guitar on their album “Voyeur”, which was produced by Nine Inch Nails Trent Reznor. After finishing his project with Van Halen frontman, David Lee Roth, John finally replaced Zim Zum.

Indeed, John finally joined Marilyn Manson’s band after the recording of “Mechanical Animals”. He performed live for the very first time with Manson during the MTV VMA.
John wrote a few titles on the album “Holy Wood” but also appeared on the tribute to Jimmy Hendrix album and worked with Garbage and Maria Antonaktos. He also co-wrote the song “Thug Pop” by David Lee Roth.
In 2002, bassist Twiggy Ramirez left Manson’s band and was replaced by Tim Skold. In 2003, after using Ibanez guitars for long, John released his first custom designed guitar – the John Lowery Signature Fender Telecaster. Guitarist Magazine called it “ the sexiest new signature guitar on the market.”

In 2003, John worked on the new Manson album, “the Golden Age of Grotesque” and toured with the band while writing a few titles for his solo album. He also wrote for artists like Avril Lavigne, Hillary Duff etc. In 2004, Manson’s official site announced his departure from the band, currently replaced by Mark Chaussee.
But John didn’t give up his passion and released his first solo album, “Vertigo”. It is a great album, with a mixture of metal rock, bluegrass and country. It sells very well and most Manson fans seem to like John’s work. A second album is to be released with his new formed group “Loser”, which will more sound like bands such as “Foo Fighters” or “Queen of the Stone Age”. John gave his very first solo concert on November, 15th.

In 2004, John 5 and Marilyn Manson parted company. "I had a great run with Marilyn Manson. It was a lot of fun [but now] I'm busier...than I was on tour". Work began in earnest on Vertigo, a deeply autobiographical album pulled from turbulent personal memories on the last Manson tour After John formed the band Loser . Recruiting vocalist Joe Grah , Charles Lee on bass and Glendon Crain on drums, they began working on their debut album " Just Like You ".The band was also partly co-founded by friend and producer Bob Marlette. Vocalist Joe Grah already had a significant amount of success in his home state of Texas, with the band Jibe. Marlette recommended Grah to John and so John hopped on a plane to Texas to see the band play. Grah flew back to LA and was hired on the spot. The band has initial success not long after signing with Island Records , when the track " Disposable Sunshine " became part of the Fantastic Four soundtrack. At the same time John was also working for Rob Zombie and a working conflict occurred. As Zombie was also touring, John tried to find a live replacement for him whilst Loser were touring on conflicting dates. However, even with promo material for the debut album out and a release date in the bag, Island Record didn't like the idea of Loser without John and so dropped the band from the label."Being the founding member of Loser, my decision to leave was not an easy one", said John 5 in a press release. "I've been juggling two careers both with Loser and Rob Zombie for over one year now. I found it impossible to be in two places at once. The album has been put on the backburner and no word on a release date has ever been issued. The official Loser Myspace page has tracks available for download working on November 2007.

In 2005 John released Songs For Sanity, a second solo album, grittier than the first: Guesting on the album were Steve Vai and Albert Lee.

In 2006 John worked on Rob Zombie album Educated Horses , writing eight out of eleven tracks. When he left Loser, John 5 took up the role of Rob Zombie guitarist as a permanent gig. “Rob is the best I have worked with. He is great. We have a great time on stage together. It has been the single greatest experience I have had working with someone, hands down.

In 2007 After a long touring with Rob Zombie, John took time out to work on his third solo album Devil Knows My Name saw contributions from Joe Satriani and Jim Root. It also won him an accolade for Best Shred Album from Guitarworld.com. Working with Hal Leonard, John 5 also released his first tuition DVD, a ground breaking instructional that mixed live lessons with horror movie inspired fillers. Sales flew through the roof.

In 2008 John released album Requiem (June 3 2008) a fourth solo album.

This year He also embarks on a Guitar Center tour of West Coast America. For John 5 this is the best way he feels he can repay the fans for all their support and loyalty over the past four years...
We hope a turn in europe soon....
